Review Requests!

Welcome to the Rebel Ragdoll Review Request Page!

Have an independently produced sci-fi / fantasy novel, movie, or video game that you want reviewed? Well, the Rebel Ragdoll Review is definitely the place for you! Welcome!

The Rebel Ragdoll Review focuses mainly on independently produced work, though at my discretion (such as with video games), I will review work that is commercially produced as well. Most likely, if a video game, book, or movie is commercially popular, it will catch my attention and I’ll review it here.

Want YOUR Book, Movie, or Video Game reviewed on the Rebel Ragdoll Review? Keep reading!

I usually snoop around looking for the latest indie spec-fic on my own, but feel free to make my job easier by submitting your own indie spec-fic stuff to me! If you want your work reviewed here, then I’d LOVE to get a submission from you! :-) If you just want to see a review for a movie, video game, or book that’s floating out there, also send me a Review Request! Follow the Submission Requirements below, and I’ll get to it as soon as I can!

A quick, but important, side note on reviews and queues:

Please understand that I get a LOT of requests for reviews, so no matter how long, short, or ground breaking your novel / movie / video game, if I agree to review your book, please give me about a month to do so. Plan ahead if you plan to use me in your grand marketing scheme! It’s nothing personal, just that I’ve got quite a back list piling up over here, lol! There’s so much great material, so give me a bit of time to get through it all, see? ;-)

Important Note on Copyright!!

I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT REDISTRIBUTE YOUR WORK WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION! I love and respect indie creators and their works, so no worries about me redistributing or selling it to someone else.

Rebel Ragdoll Review is going to debut VERY soon with its first set of reviews, so I invite you to stay tuned! In the meantime, check out my submission requirements for your indie work below!

Keep it indie,
<3 Colby

Submission requirements for Movies (Independent):

* A digital or hard copy of your movie! Foreign films are amazing, and I’d love to review them as well! (As I side note, I’m proficient in Mandarin; I am conversational in French, and Spanish; and I have a basic proficiency in Arabic and Japanese. Just keep these things in mind when you send your movie. I may need subtitles depending on what language you’re using!)

FOR DIGITAL COPIES: I have a (private, non-shared) Dropbox account. Please email me for further instructions on depositing your movie! Downloadable movies are fine, and links to your movie are fine too. If you have an FTP that you’d prefer to use, that is also fine. Please email me at [email protected] so we can work out the details.

FOR HARD COPIES: Please send a DVD in standard AC-3, NTSC format to: “P.O. Box 260258, Madison, WI 53726″. I can’t accept Bluray DVDs until October 2012 please (because I’m a broke grad student that can’t afford it until then, lol!)

* A movie trailer, digital DVD cover, promotional art, or a combination of all three would be great! These are for promotional purposes ONLY on your behalf! A movie trailer is the best and most effective, but I will take whatever you have! For movie trailers, please send me a LINK (YouTube or Vimeo is preferable) so I can embed it into my site. For digital DVD covers and promotional art, please email them as attachments to [email protected]

* A team photo (from director to grip!) and a link to where readers can both find out more about you, your studio / team, AND purchase or watch your movie! If you will be featured in a film festival (or a series of them) please also put this in your email to me!

* Please send me a “Review Request” email introducing yourself (and including all the above information) before you send your movie! I love to get to know people through an email introduction before I take on a movie review!

* Movies MUST be in the speculative fiction genre. And yes, animation DOES count! :-) I do not review Romance, Mystery / Thriller, or Historical Fiction UNLESS they tie in very strongly with science fiction & fantasy!

* A digital OR hard disk copy of your game (or game in progress). Titles MUST be compatible with the PC, Xbox 360, or the PS3!!

FOR DIGITAL COPIES: I have a (private, non-shared) Dropbox account. Please email me for further instructions on depositing your video game! FOR HARD COPIES: Please send a hard-disk to: “P.O. Box 260258, Madison, WI 53726″. Please be aware that I live in the United States, so be cognizant of potential formatting and language issues if you are sending work from another country! (As I side note, I’m proficient in Mandarin; I am conversational in French, and Spanish; and I have a basic proficiency in Arabic and Japanese. Just keep these things in mind when you send your game. I may need subtitles depending on what language you’re using!)

* A developer team photo and a link to where readers can both find out more about you, your team, your development (or publishing) house, AND links to purchasing your game!

* Please send me a “Review Request” email before you send your materials! I love to get to know people through an email introduction before I take on a video game review!

* Please also friend me on Xbox Live. My Gamertag is Kopernicus37. I love destroying noobs. Kthxbai! ;-)

* Games MUST be in the speculative fiction genre. I do not review Racing, Sports, Fighting, or Simulation games UNLESS they tie in very strongly with science fiction & fantasy!

* Not a requirement, but something to take note of: I am much more experienced with (and generally prefer) third-person adventure / horror / sci-fi & fantasy games with story lines. (Assassin’s Creed, Grand Theft Auto franchise, the Resident Evil franchise, Fable, SkyRim, etc). I CAN AND WILL review first-person shooters (no discrimination), but I just wanted to give you full-disclosure on my leanings! When I get more gamers to guest post on my blog, I hope to recruit reviewers with strengths that are different than mine, so stay tuned!
